Ingredients:
Maida or All purpose flour - 1 cup
Channa Dhal - 1 cup
Jaggery - 1 cup
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
Cardamom - 4 (powdered)
Yellow color
Salt
Oil
Ghee
Method:
In a bowl have maida,yellow color and salt , mix with water and knead a soft dough , then pour 1/4 cup of oil on the top of the dough , let it marinate for 1 hour.
Soak the channa dhal for 2 hours,before preparing dough.Drain water from soaked dhal and cook in the pressure cooker for 4 whistles untill dhal softened. Then mash the cooked dhal or grind as a powder in blender. In a pan add jaggery and water ,cook untill jaggery dissolved and filter the syrup and heat again untill thicker , then add the powdered dhal into the syrup. Stir until dhal becomes thicker add grated coconut and powdered cardomom mix well. Let it cool and make small balls. Take a small ball of dough which we already prepared , put the dhal mixture in the center of the dough and cover the dhal mixture , give it a gentle press with fingers. Then put it in a pan , pour ghee around the poli cook well both the sides. Paruppu poli is ready.
