Rava or sooji upma



Ingredients :
             
            Rava or sooji - 2 cups ( fry in a pan without oil )
            Onion - 1/2 chopped
            Ginger - 1/2 inch chopped
            Green chillies - 2 halved
            Water - 6 cups
            Salt

For tempering :

           Butter - 1tsp
           Oil - 1 tbsp
           Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
           Urad dhal or uzhuntham paruppu - 1/2 tsp
           Kadalai paruppu or channa dhal - 1/2 tsp
           Curry leaves - 1 or 2 sprigs

Method :

          In a pan without oil fry the rava,till the good aroma come. Sift it to a plate.
          In a same pan add butter and oil,let it melt,then add all the ingredients in tempering list.
          After everything turn to a light brown color,add 6 cups of water and salt. I am adding water here
          is 1:3.
          When water starts to boil add fried rava,mix well. It starts to splutter out of the pan. Put the lid on
          the top of the pan,and switch it off. Let it stand for 3 minutes. Then open the lid and mix well.
          Now upma is ready. Serve with pasiparuppu sambhar or coconut chutney.
