Kadappa is kind of side dish for idly or dosa in the places around kumbakonam.
Ingredients:
Onion - 1/2 (chopped)
Tomato - 1/2 (chopped)
Potato - 1 (boiled and mashed)
Pasiparuppu / moong dhal - 1/4 cup (cooked and mashed)
Green chilies - 4
Garlic - 2 cloves (crushed)
Kasa kasa / poppy seeds - 1 tbsp
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Cinnamon - 1 stick
Cardamom - 1
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves and coriander leaves
Method:
In a wok add oil, put mustard seeds, let it splutter, add cardamom,cinnamon, curry leaves,
coriander leaves, onion, tomato and stir well.
Grind the kasa kasa, coconut, fennel seeds as fine paste.
Put the paste into the wok, and mix well.
Add potato and moong dhal, let it cook in medium fire for 10 mins.
Once the kadappa turned as little ticker, stop cooking.
Kadappa is ready to serve with hot idlies and dosa.
