Ingredients :
Raw rice (sona masuri or basmathi) - 1 cup
Green gram dhal or split moong dhal - 1/2 cup
Pepper - 1 tsp (crushed )
Cummin seeds - 1tsp
Curry leaves
Ghee - 4 tbsp
Asafoetida
Salt
Method :
First soak the rice and dhal for 15min. Wash well. Take the pressure cooker add ghee. When ghee become hot add pepper,cumin,asafoetida and curry leaves. Once pepper starts to change the color, add the rice and dhal. Then add 3 cups of water and salt,mix well. Let the cooker on stove untill 2 whistle. Then let the cooker to cool . Open the lid. Hot yummy pongal is ready . Serve with chutney or sambhar.
