Badam or Almond chutney



Simple and easy to make. Same like coconut chutney. We enjoyed with hot idlies. So yummy.

Ingredients:

          Badam or almonds - 20 to 30
          Ginger - 1/2 inch piece
          Garlic - 2 cloves
          Green chilly - 3no
          Tamarind - 2 pinches
          Salt
          Water

For tempering :

         Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
         Urad dhal or uzhundam parrupu - 1/2 tsp
         Curry leaves - 1 sprig
         Oil - 2 tsp

Method :

         In hot water soak the almonds for 15 minutes. Remove the skin. In a mixer grinder add peeled almonds,ginger,garlic,green chilly,tamarind,salt and water. Grind as coarse paste. Sift it to a another bowl,add more water,if you want. In a pan add oil,mustard,urad dhal and curry leaves,let mustard seeds to splutter and urad dhal to change its color. Now put the tempering over the top of the chutney. Mix well. Ready to serve with idly and dosa.
