Ingredients:
Oats - 2 cups
Onion - 1/2
Tomato - 1/2
Green chilies - 2
Green peas - 1/4 cup ( I used frozen )
Carrot - 1 ( chopped like a cube )
Lemon - 1/2
Cloves - 3
Cinnamon - 1 stick
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Channa dhal/Kadalai paruppu - 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt
Butter/Ghee - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tsp
Water - 4 cups
Method:
Dry roast the oats in a pan, let it cool. In the same pan add butter and oil, once butter melted, add mustard seeds, channa dhal. After mustard seeds started to splutter, add Cinnamon, cloves, onion,tomato and green chilies, saute well. Now add the vegetables, turmeric powder and salt. Saute well. Add 4 cups of water. Since we are using 2 cups of oats, adding 4 cups of water, like 1:2 ratio. Once water started to boil add oats and let it cook with the lid, until we get the kitchadi consistency. Squeeze lemon and mix well. Garnish with coriander leaves.
